As previously reported here on eWn, Aleister Black was released along with Buddy Murphy, Braun Strowman, Ruby Riott and others on Wednesday. As it relates to Black, he noted during a Twitch stream that he had a great relationship with Vince McMahon, despite the fact that Vince didn’t really “get” his character once he made it to the main roster. On the latest episode of WON, it was revealed that McMahon didn’t understand the “in-ring style” of both Aleister Black or Buddy Murphy, which was one of the factors that led to their WWE dismissals.

According to sources, McMahon has a very narrow minded and rigid definition of how Sports Entertainment/Pro Wrestling should be, both inside the ring and out of it. This is why wrestlers like AEW Superstar Kenny Omega, had he jumped to WWE in 2019, would have failed miserably unless he had completely changed his character and style to match Vince’s vision in WWE.

As for Buddy Murphy, McMahon never had faith in him and felt that after his storyline with the Mysterio’s and Seth Rollins was done, the nail was in the coffin for his WWE career.
