WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair had to play politics with AEW President Tony Khan to ensure AEW talent for his last ever match.
On Sunday, Flair will wrestle what’s being advertised as his final match, teaming with his son-in-law and AEW star Andrade El Idolo to face Jeff Jarrett and AEW’s Jay Lethal.
Sitting down with Chris Van Vliet on the latest episode of “Insight,” Flair recalled Khan being hesitant to have AEW talent involved at first.
“Conrad and I put it together initially. We were going to go outside and get some people from AEW, and then it all became a little political with Tony. I’m not sure why he changed things around, but it’s okay. We worked around it and we’re sold out, and that’s all that matters.”
It had been reported at one point that AEW’s FTR would be in Flair’s last match, but that was never confirmed.
