Today marks Roman Reigns’ 435 days as WWE Champion, surpassing CM Punk’s 434-day reign to become the longest reigning WWE Champion of ‘the modern era.’ While he continues to hold the Universal Championship for over 1,000 days.

At 435 days, Reigns is now the longest-reigning WWE Champion since Hulk Hogan (1,474 days). He will need to hold the WWE Championship for almost 600 days more to cross Pedro Morales (1,027 days), which is indeed amusing because as far as any ‘World Championship’ promoted by WWE is concerned, Reigns will surpass Morales’ reign this month, having held the Universal Championship for a mammoth 1,016 days. His Universal Championship reign is the longest ‘World Championship’ reign since Hogan’s aforementioned reign.

For context, here are the longest World Championship reigns in WWE history:

  1. Bruno Sammartino – 2,803 days as WWE Champion
  2. Bob Backlund – 2,135 days as WWE Champion
  3. Hulk Hogan – 1,474 days as WWE Champion
  4. Pedro Morales – 1,027 days as WWE Champion
  5. Roman Reigns (current) – 1,016+ days as Universal Champion
  6. Brock Lesnar – 504 days as Universal Champion
  7. Roman Reigns (current) – 435+ days as WWE Champion
  8. CM Punk – 434 days as WWE Champion
  9. John Cena – 380 days as WWE Champion
  10. Randy Savage & AJ Styles – 371 days as WWE Champion

As far CM Punk is concerned, we are less than a week away from his return on the premiere episode of AEW Collision on Saturday, June 17, from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
