Talks between WWE and Cody Rhodes have reportedly ‘fizzled out,‘ with some believing a return to AEW could happen for the former TNT Champion.
Last month, Rhodes and his wife Brandi left AEW and are two of wrestling’s hottest free agents.
It was later reported that Cody has been in talks with WWE about a return, but talks between the two sides have reportedly stalled.
When Cassidy Haynes spoke to sources about the AEW-ROH purchase, he was told that when it comes to Cody and WWE “those conversations have since fizzled out.”
One source said there’s hope Cody can return to AEW, possibly with a new role involving the acquisition of Ring of Honor.
On the Wrestling Observer Forum, Dave Meltzer refuted Haynes’ report, saying that things are still on track for Cody to return to WWE.
Cody has not commented publicly on the reports of his WWE return, but will be reportedly be treated as a “huge deal” by Vince McMahon should he come back.
