During Saturday night’s AEW Battle of the Belts event, we saw Dustin Rhodes step in to replace his brother Cody Rhodes after he was not medically cleared to compete as he’s currently in quarantine due to coming into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
The match between Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara was to crown an interim TNT Champion, which Guevara won after a pinfall reversal sequence ended in his favor. Following the match, David Crockett came into the ring and presented Guevara with the belt. Daniel Garcia then came out and the two men had a pull-apart brawl as the show went to a commercial break.
When we came back from the break, Guevara was backstage and challenged Garcia to a match for the interim title on this Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
