On a recent episode of WWE SmackDown, Rey Mysterio battled Santos Escobar in the United States Title Invitational Finals.
This bout ended earlier than expected as it seemed Mysterio was injured after being hit with an outside dive by Escobar during the commercial break, leading to WWE’s medical staff checking on Rey. The referee called off the match, and Escobar was declared the winner. Following the match, Mysterio congratulated Escobar on the win.
Coming out of the show, it was reported that Mysterio suffered a concussion. This is something Santos Escobar confirmed in an appearance on “The Ten Count” podcast.
When asked by Steve Fall if the bout went down as planned, Escobar replied, “The show that you got was the show that it was going to be. I believe that it is important to present a good show and I believe that was the case that night. Rey and I went hard, that’s what we agreed upon. We have a long relationship, we have a bond. When you have that, you go hard. That’s what happens when you go hard. He had a small, mild concussion, but he came back and you know what happened.”
