Shayna Baszler Denies Claim Ronda Rousey Demanded WWE Women’s Tag Title Run

Ronda Rousey did not put her foot down and demand a run as a WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion despite what some have been led to believe.

On this week’s episode of RAW, Rousey and Shayna Baszler captured the vacant tag titles, marking Rousey’s first reign with the titles and the third for Baszler.

Recently, Baszler recently spoke with the “Cheap Heat” podcast to discuss teaming with Rousey and said the UFC legend insisted on being in a team with Baszler. Shayna is quoted as saying,

“Ronda is Ronda, right. She’s been main title, she main-evented WrestleMania. She still gets one of the loudest pops when we walk out. This was something she demanded. We’d been asking for it forever, but she finally put her foot down and went to the office and said, ‘Listen, we’ve been asking for this forever. You keep telling us, ‘After, after, after this [and] this.’ I honestly don’t know if she hadn’t done that, if they ever would have got to it. I wasn’t in a position yet to be elevated to a Ronda level, so the fact that Ronda said, ‘No, stop. I’ve done this. I want to do this because this is why I started wrestling.’ So I think that’s huge.”

When a fan reported that Rousey had demanded to win the tag titles, Baszler was quick to refute the claim via a tweet.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships had previously been held by Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, who were forced to vacate the gold due to Morgan’s shoulder injury.
