WWE co-CEO Stephanie McMahon was coy when asked about the possibility of the promotion being sold to a bigger distributor.

In recent months, rumors have circulated that WWE is looking for a potential buyer, with names like Amazon, Netflix, Apple, and Disney all being discussed.

Warner Bros.-Discovery, who distribute AEW through their TNT and TBS channels, have also been discussed as a potential buyer.

Speaking during the WWE 2022 Q2 Investors Call, McMahon was asked about the possibility of a sale.

The Wrestling Observer reported that WWE’s co-CEO neither confirmed nor denied rumors of the possibility of a sale.

When pressed, McMahon said that she and others will do what is best for the company.

Rumors of a sale were around before Vince McMahon’s retirement from WWE in July this year.

Some have speculated that the past two years of mass releases, explained as ‘budget cuts,’ were done to make the company more profitable and more appealing to a potential buyer.
