In its final broadcast on the SyFy network, WWE SmackDown hit a near-low on New Year’s Eve. The low rating was expected due to it being New Year’s Eve but Thursday’s episode brought in just 1.658 million viewers and a 0.46 rating in the 18 – 49 demographic. That was down 27% and 35% from the previous week’s 2.264 million viewers and 0.71 demo rating.
The numbers were the lowest since the Thanksgiving episode, which drew 1.652 million viewers and an equal 0.46 rating. Obviously New Year’s Eve had a major impact on the rating, with college football dominating the night. ESPN owned nine of the top ten cable original shows for the night, with CNN’s live New Year’s Eve show taking the #10 spot. SmackDown ranked eleventh.
