The Reason Behind The Recent AEW International Title Changes Revealed

As many of you have seen over the past several weeks, the AEW International Championship has changed hands several times.

First, Rey Fenix defeated Jon Moxley to capture the title. On Tuesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Rey Fenix dropped the championship to Orange Cassidy.

As we previously reported here on eWn, the match between Jon Moxley and Rey Fenix saw an audible being called after “Mox” suffered a concussion.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Tony Khan originally had plans to put the title back on Moxley on this week’s episode of Dynamite. The reason for this is because Fenix is dealing with visa issues that will keep him off of TV for the foreseeable future. When AEW officials learned early Tuesday afternoon that Moxley was not going to be cleared to compete, the decision was made to put the title on Cassidy.

For what it’s worth, there were never any plans to put the title back on Cassidy prior to Moxley’s injury and Fenix’s visa issues. The original plan was to give Jon Moxley a long run with the title. This all changed due to Mox’s injury and Fenix’s visa issues.

As of this writing, there is no word on how long Fenix will be off AEW television. The hope as far as Moxley is concerned is that he’ll be cleared sooner rather than later.

In other news, we now have the updated lineup for next week’s episode of IMPACT! on AXS TV. You can check out the updated card below:

* Kenny King vs. Heath
* Trinity & Mickie Jame vs. Gisele Shaw & Savannah Evans
