Becky Lynch was scheduled to face Bayley in a Steel Cage Match this week on RAW Is XXX. However, the match never took place as Damage CTRL brutalized Lynch before the bout could even begin.
According to a report from Fightful Select, WWE had to ditch the cage match because the opening Tribal Court segment with The Bloodline ran much longer than its allotted timeslot as a result of which several segments had to be edited on the fly.
Bayley and Lynch were in a spot where they could either work an angle to set up a full match for a later date or wrestle the cage match in under a minute or two. Obviously, the angle was the most appropriate choice.
Additionally, WWE’s original plan involved Lynch getting victimized by Damage CTRL after beating Bayley inside the steel structure.
