UFC 199 Results: Michael Bisping Shocks Luke Rockhold, Dominick Cruz Retains Against Urijah Faber

Main Card: (PPV – 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT)

Middleweight Title bout: Luke Rockhold (15-2) vs. Michael Bisping (28-7)

Round 1: Rockhold was using a lot of leg kicks early. Bisping rocked him, then dropped him with a combo and finished him on the ground.

Result: Michael Bisping def. Luke Rockhold by knockout (punches) at 3:36 of Round 1

Bantamweight Title bout: Dominick Cruz (21-1) vs. Urijah Faber (33-8)

Round 1: Cruz took him down within the first minute of the first round and Cruz got guard. Faber got to his feet at 3:40 and Cruz clinches with him. Fabers’ pants fall down as they separate. Faber went for a takedown at 2:38 and got it but Cruz ended up on top after a scramble. Faber got back to his feet at 2:10 and Cruz presses him up against the fence.

Round 2: Cruz comes out and dropped him with a straight left hand. Cruz swarmed him but Faber got back to his feet. Faber started to back pedal and went for a takedown but didn’t get it. Cruz tagged him again.

Round 3: Faber was over reaching and got tagged at 4:02. Cruz just missed a huge head kick. Faber started to land some combos but Cruz was getting the better of him.

Round 4: Faber was pressing forward and Cruz was just picking him apart. Cruz was throwing a lot of shots then dropped him at 2:07 but Faber got back to his feet.

Round 5: Cruz kept shining in this round. Faber couldn’t get anything going.

Result: Dominick Cruz def. Urijah Faber by unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 49-46)

Featherweight bout: Max Holloway (15-3) vs. Ricardo Lamas (16-4)

Round 1: Holloway rocked him at 2:59 and blasted him with strikes. Lamas started to backpedal and went for a single leg at 2:25 but Holloway stuffed it and got on top. Lamas got back to his feet moments later and Holloway pressed him up against the fence. Lamas went for a takedown under a minute to go but Holloway stuffed it.

Round 2: Holloway was fighting his fight, moving outside very well, picking his spots and staying safe. Lamas turned up the pressure in this round but was being tagged. Lamas went for a takedown but Holloway rocked him and blitzed him. Lamas connected and they went back and forth. Lamas went for a takedown and Holloway had a choke for a moment but let it go. Holloway allowed him up and locked in the rear-naked choke but let it go. Holloway had back mount with seconds to go in the round.

Round 3: things slowed down in this round but it still had some action. Holloway hurt him with a minute to go and Lams was just holding on for survival. They had a wild exchange to end the round.

Result: Max Holloway def. Ricardo Lamas via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Middleweight bout: Dan Henderson (31-14) vs. Hector Lombard (34-5-1, 2NC)

Round 1: Lombard dropped him with a big right hand but Henderson got back to his feet. Lombard slammed him down and got side control at 2:33. Lombard went for the crucifix but Henderson gout lose and Lombard remained in side control. Henderson got up but Lombard dropped him again. Lombard swarms him while Henderson made it to his feet. Henderson clinched and Lombard took him down at 1:15. Lombard stayed there until the bell sounded.

Round 2: Henderson came out and head kicked Lombard out cold. Henderson finished on him the ground with elbows.

Result: Dan Henderson def. Hector Lombard by knockout (strikes) at 1:27 of Round 2

Lightweight bout: Dustin Poirier (19-4) vs. Bobby Green (23-6)

Round 1: Poirier dropped him early in the round but Green got back to his feet. Poirier continued to fire away Poirier dropped him again and finished the fight.

Result: Dustin Poirier def. Bobby Green by knockout (punches) at 2:53 of Round 1

Preliminary Card: (FS1 – 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT)

Featherweight bout: Brian Ortega (10-0, 1NC) vs. Clay Guida (32-16)

Round 1: Ortega threw a kick but it was caught by Guida. Guida was fighting smart and was getting in and out without being tagged.

Round 2: Ortega was trying to throw head kicks but Guida was moving out of the way and tagging him. Ortega was only 8% advancing while Guida was 41%.

Round 3: Guida landed a spinning back kick and then tagged him with an overhand right. Things picked up with the last two minutes of the round. Ortega landed a big knee to the head and then finished him on the ground.

Result: Brian Ortega def. Clay Guida via TKO (knee, punches) – Round 3, 4:40

Lightweight bout: Beneil Dariush (12-2) vs. James Vick (9-0)

Round 1: Dariush was poked in the eye twice in this round. Dariush dropped him and tried to finish him on the ground but Vick got to his feet. Dariush clinched with him at 1:51 against the fence. Dariush hurt him and then landed a huge left hand. Vick was knocked out cold.

Result: Beneil Dariush def. James Vick by knockout (punches) at 4:16 of Round 1

Women’s Strawweight bout: Jessica Penne (12-3) vs. Jessica Andrade (13-5)

Round 1: Andrade came out and blitzed her with a series of strikes that stunned Penne. Andrade blitzed her again with 30-seconds left in the round. Penne couldn’t do much in this round and was back peddling.

Round 2: Andrade continued to blitz Penne and dropped her again within the first minute of the round. Andrade pressed her up against the fence and finished her with strikes.

Result: Jessica Andrade def. Jessica Penne via TKO (punches) – Round 2, 2:56

Featherweight bout: Cole Miller (21-9-1) vs. Alex Caceres (11-8-1)

Round 1: Caceres tagged him and dropped him. Caceres got on top and started throwing down a series of strikes. Miller got back to his feet, but Caceres clinched with him right away.

Round 2: Caceres continued to take him down in this round and was all over him.

Round 3: Caceres slowed down in this round but still took him down and worked him over with strikes. Miller went for an armbar but Caceres got back to his feet and clinched with him.

Result: Alex Caceres def. Cole Miller via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

Preliminary Card: (UFC Fight Pass – 6:15 p.m. ET/3:15 p.m PT)

Welterweight bout: Sean Strickland (17-1) vs. Tom Breese (10-0)

Round 1: They started off slow. Strickland started landing some nice combos. Breeze landed a good 1-2 combo late in the round. A lot of hand fighting in this one and didn’t have a ton of action.

Round 2: Breeze started to let his hands go in this round and was T-ing off. Still not a ton of action and the fans didn’t like this fight at all.

Round 3: Strickland started to fight back but neither guy got anything going.

Result: Sean Strickland def. Tom Breese via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Light Heavyweight bout: Jonathan Wilson (7-0) vs. Luiz Henrique da Silva (10-0)

Round 1: Wilson comes out and clinches with him then lands a series of knees. Silva presses away from him. They exchanged to end the round.

Round 2: Silva comes out and takes him down but Wilson got up to his feet very quick. Wilson then put together some combos before Silva tagged him with an uppercut then tagged him some more up against the fence. Wilson fired back and dropped Silva at 3:30. He got on top of Silva and rained down some strikes. Silva scrambled, got on mount and finished the fight with strikes.

Result: Luis Henrique da Silva def. Jonathan Wilson via TKO (punches) – Round 3, 4:11

Middleweight bout: Kevin Casey (9-4, 2NC) vs. Elvis Mutapcic (15-4)

Round 1: After a few minutes of striking, Casey took him down and got in half guard. Casey smothered him from that position and landed a series of strikes. Casey got side control then mount briefly. Mutapcic scrambled out, and they exchanged to the bell.

Round 2: Mutapcic came out and landed a series of knees until Casey took him down at 3:36 and mounted him. Mutapcic scrambled to his feet at 1:51 and Casey clinched with him up against the fence.

Round 3: As this round went on, Mutapcic started to throw more strikes and land more. Casey slowed down in this round, and Mutapcic was picking him apart with strikes and kicks. Mutapcic took him down, mounted him and blasted him until the bell rang.

Result: Kevin Casey and Elvis Mutapcic fight to majority draw (29-28, 28-29, 28-28)

Lightweight bout: Dong Hyun Kim (13-7-3) vs. Marco Polo Reyes (5-2)

Round 1: Reyes came out and landed a series of jabs then a head kick. Kim tagged him with a counter left hook then tagged him with some more hooks. Kim clinched with him up against the fence. Reyes with a hard elbow that dropped Kim but Kim got up, and Reyes tagged him more. Reyes tagged him, and Kim fell. Reyes got on top in guard. Kim spun out and clinched with him with less than 25-seconds to go. Kim landed a spinning elbow.

Round 2: Both guys come out, and Kim tagged him with an uppercut. Reyes clinched with him and landed some big knees. Kim fired back and tagged him. These dudes are just going off. Both guys were bleeding from their noses. Reyes took him down to end the round.

Round 3: Reyes came out and landed a big combo that dropped Kim and finished the fight.

Result: Polo Reyes def. “Maestro” Dong Hyun Kim via knockout (punches) – Round 3, 1:52
