Cody Rhodes may be WWE’s top babyface, but Vince Russo believes the American Nightmare isn’t acting like one.

Since his WrestleMania 38 return, Rhodes has been accepted as one of the top faces, in stark contrast to the hostile response he received from AEW fans from 2019 to 2022.

On last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Cody spoke about proving people wrong, including proving he could be more than Randy Orton’s lackey in Legacy.

Rhodes added that he proved people wrong when they said he could never sell tickets to “me & my buddies’ little indie show” a nod to 2018’s All In pay-per-view event.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s WrestleBinge podcast, Russo argued that a babyface should be far more humble. He said,

“They gotta be careful with this guy. I saw the SmackDown promo, bro, that was very braggadocious. A babyface doesn’t put himself over like that, a babyface is supposed to be humble.”

“I’m telling you, he was so braggadocious, ‘Nobody said I could do this and nobody said I could do that’. I’m like, bro, that’s not the way you should be booking this dude, bro.”

Interestingly, Russo was banned from attending All In, with Rhodes explaining at the time that hateful comments made in the past by Russo were the reason for his decision.

Cody Rhodes will challenge Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WWE WrestleMania 39 next month.
