WWE’s plans for a six-man-tag team match at WrestleMania 38 are in jeopardy after Big E. suffered a broken neck on this week’s SmackDown.

During the broadcast, Big E. took an awkward Suplex from Ridge Holland out of the ring and was stretchered backstage.

In a video update, the former WWE Champion said his neck has been broken.

According to Fightful Select, the plan was for the New Day to face Sheamus, Ridge Holland, and Butch (formerly Pete Dunne) at WrestleMania:

“We’re told this [Butch’s debut] is planned as an official call-up and leading into the night there were plans for Butch, Ridge Holland and Sheamus to take on New Day at WrestleMania. However, with Big E’s injury on Smackdown, we can’t be sure that’s still the case.“

Big E. has been taken to a hospital in Birmingham, Alabama to have tests on his neck.

There is no time frame for when he’s expected to wrestle again.
