AEW Superstar Jon Moxley was unable to make it to Japan for the NJPW King Of Pro Wrestling event due to the recent typhoon. As a result, he was stripped of his IWGP United States Championship.
Originally, he was set to defend against rival, Juice Robinson, in a No Disqualification match.
With Moxley out of the picture, this provided an opportunity for Lance Archer to step up. Step up he did because he defeated juice for the vacated championship and is now the current IWGP United States Champion.

After the bout, Archer would continue to beat on Juice only for David Finlay to return from injury and make the save, dropping the new United States Champion with a Stunner.
