It was reported earlier today that WWE would hold SummerSlam on August 21st at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It turns out that the date and location is still up in the air. Sports Business Journal is reporting that the stadiums being considered to host the show are the following:
– Hard Rock Stadium (Miami, FL)
– SoFi Stadium (Inglewood, CA)
– NRG Stadium (Houston, TX)
– Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas, NV)
– MetLife Stadium (East Rutherford, New Jersey)
– Nissan Stadium (Nashville, TN)
Regarding the date, many fans thought it was weird WWE would hold the show on the same night as Manny Pacquiao’s return to the boxing ring that also takes place in Vegas. WrestleVotes reported this:
Update: 8/21 is currently “provisional” according to a source. Pacquiao fight wasn’t official until 5/21, no updates since on document being circulated. 8/22 & Sat 8/7 shown as “holds”. WWE’s preference is SAT. However being honest, I’m not entirely sure where it stand as of now.
