Team New School (Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller, and Tony D’Angelo) vs. Team Old School (Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne, and LA Knight) in a WarGames match was booked at this year’s WWE NXT WarGames event. The following is the play-by-play coverage of the match:
Gargano and Hayes started things out. Waller was the third man in after a strong opening few minutes. Gargano hit a spring board powerbomb off the top rope. Waller and Hayes double teamed Gargano, who did manage to fight back with a neck breaker, only to be taken out with a chair. Gargano was bleeding from his nose. Dunne was next in and used the cage to damage the fingers of Waller. Dexter Lumis chased away Trick Williams. D’Angelo came in then Knight, but he was locked out of the cage so he climbed it and took out Tony and Hayes. Knight with a neck breaker then a powerslam to Tony.
Knight hit Waller with a kendo stick while he had a trash can on his head. Bron and Ciampa were the last wrestlers to enter. Bron tossed Gargano from one ring to another. Ciampa used a crutch at one point. Ciampa and Gargano did some DIY spots. Knight did a belly-to-belly suplex from the top rope to Waller through a table. There was a tower of doom. Knight with his finisher to Hayes for a near fall. Ciampa with a powerslam off the middle rope with Bron onto a trash can. Knight was put on a table and Waller hit an elbow drop off the top of the cage for a near fall. Ciampa went for his finisher on Hayes, but Bron spread him through a table. Bron with his finisher to Ciampa for the win.
