WWE CEO Vince McMahon was “never on board” with the idea of a Cesaro main-event run during the Swiss Cyborg’s eleven years with the company.
Signing in 2011, Cesaro left WWE this week after a one-year contract extension expired and doesn’t have a non-compete clause.
According to Wrestling News, McMahon recognized Cesaro’s talent but never considered him a headliner:
“Vince McMahon was never on board with pushing him as a top guy and the feeling was that he was just a “good hand” but not someone who could be seen as a main eventer.”
Cesaro leaves WWE a one-time United States Champion and a seven-time Tag Team Champion.
