As we previously reported here on eWn, prominent NFL star Patrick Mahomes made a surprise appearance on Monday’s episode of WWE RAW.
The segment featured Mahomes as a heel alongside Logan Paul against Jey Uso, despite the show being held in Kansas City, where Mahomes plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that the segment resulted from a collaboration between WWE sponsor PRIME, Paul’s sports drink brand.
PRIME sponsored the segment due to Mahomes and Paul’s association with the brand, which cast the NFL athlete as a villain.
The decision to have Paul play a villain alongside Mahomes was a result of PRIME’s desire to have the two personalities work together in an on-screen angle.
The segment also marked the return of Braun Strowman, who confronted Paul and exchanged some words with Mahomes before Jey intervened.
