WWE has significantly altered its WrestleMania 40 plans by replacing Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. Instead, they have scheduled a match between The Rock and his cousin.
During Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Rhodes expressed his desire to take everything from Reigns but clarified that it wouldn’t happen at WrestleMania. He then introduced The Rock, leading to a tense face-off between The Rock and Reigns.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer, this change in the main event was decided in the past few days. Rhodes vs. Reigns was the plan for WrestleMania 40 as of the night of the Royal Rumble and Monday’s RAW TV tapings, but it was altered due to The Rock’s strong push for the match.
Rhodes will seemingly challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40.
