Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is slated to portray Mark Kerr, a two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion, in “The Smashing Machine.” The film is scheduled to undergo a three-month production period, starting on May 1, 2024, and ending on August 1, 2024.

The Rock will team with Roman Reigns to face off against Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes on the first night of WrestleMania 40.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter the latest on The Rock’s post-WrestleMania 40 status with WWE. He said,

“Based on the filming schedule he could not do any PPV matches until SummerSlam, and even that would be difficult because he’d have to train for the match while on set. While the belief in the company is that this is not his last match, there is no date for another match and it depends on his movie schedule, although with the nature of his WWE contract, he also could move dates around for a WWE PPV show.”
