At Saturday’s WWE King & Queen of the Ring 2024 pay-per-view event, GUNTHER emerged victorious in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament, defeating Randy Orton to claim the prestigious crown.
The match was a closely contested battle, with GUNTHER successfully countering Orton’s RKO and ultimately securing the victory with a Crucifix-pinning combination.
While there was some controversy regarding the final pinfall, the decision stands, and GUNTHER is now the reigning King of the Ring.
As the first King of the Ring winner since Xavier Woods in 2021, GUNTHER has earned the status of No. 1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship currently held by Damian Priest on RAW.
GUNTHER will challenge Priest for the title at WWE SummerSlam 2024 in August, as long as Priest can get past Drew McIntyre at next month’s Clash at the Castle pay-per-view event.
