After a sex trafficking lawsuit was filed against Vince McMahon and WWE, Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE TV at the 2024 Royal Rumble had to be canceled. Lesnar, a former WWE/UFC Heavyweight Champion, was the only one who fit the bill regarding the lawsuit naming a former WWE/UFC Heavyweight Champion.
Lesnar was supposed to wrestle Dominik Mysterio at Elimination Chamber 2024 and Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER at WrestleMania 40. Both of those bouts were nixed.
Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com stated that “there have been moves” to potentially bring back Lesnar. However, Dave Meltzer reported the following in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
“There was something behind the scenes this week that was done, the details of which were told to us off the record, that indicated a less hard line about Lesnar, whose plans, which included an IC title match with GUNTHER at Wrestlemania after a Royal Rumble return, were dropped when the lawsuit went public. However, one company source said that there was no movement at all right now to bring Lesnar back as a performer.”
