GUNTHER defeated Jey Uso to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship in the main event of last week’s episode of WWE RAW.
WrestleVotes is reporting that “multiple people” in WWE were “under the impression” that Jey would dethrone GUNTHER last week.
WrestleVotes further noted, “I’m told that as late as 6pm, this was the direction on various show rundowns within the creative and digital departments.”
According to a report from Fightful Select, the information that Jey was going to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship was “relayed to a couple of people.”
However, it’s said that Jey winning the title wasn’t actually planned for the February 19th episode.
GUNTHER is currently the longest-reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion in history, having held the title for over 625 days.
