Rhea Ripley On Her WrestleMania 40 Win, If The Four Horsewomen Era Is Over

During Saturday’s WWE WrestleMania 40 (Night One) pay-per-view event, Rhea Ripley defeated Becky Lynch to retain the WWE Women’s World Championship.

In a post-match “Digital Exclusive” interview, Ripley reacted to her victory over Lynch.

She said, “I’m feeling alive. I’m feeling like I’m on top of the division and I’ve not only shown that to everyone else, even though I’ve already been on top for so bloody long because Mami’s always on top like you know, Cathy. But now everyone, has just been reminded why I’m the dominant one. I’m Mami and why this is my division.”

She continued, “Becky, she put up a fantastic fight like she always does. I knew that I was in her head and I was under her skin and I was going to get The Man that I wanted. I wasn’t going to get the mother. I wasn’t going to get the wife. I wanted Becky freaking Lynch. I wanted The Man. That’s exactly what I got, and you know what? I went in there and I beat The Man. You know why? Because I’ve said it before on Raw, but behind every great man is a greater woman and I just proved my point.”

Ripley beat Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 39 last year.

During the post-WWE WrestleMania 40 (Night One) media scrum, Ripley was asked if the Four Horsewomen Era was over.

Mami said, “The Four Horsewomen era, it will live on forever. They accomplished so much. They took the women’s division to heights that we could have only dreamt of. They’ve done so much for the business and I have all the respect for every single one of them. I feel like the way I have been going WrestleMania after WrestleMania, finally knocking off the Horsewomen, same as Bianca Belair, she’s been doing the same, we’ve been proving that there is a shift coming and these new women are taking over and showing out. We’re trying to take it to higher heights than it has been taken to. Obviously, Four Horsewomen, they are amazing at what they do and we don’t want them to leave, but they’re going to have to move over because we’re taking over at the same time.”
