AEW Dynamite Results (8/30/2023)

#1. Jon Moxley vs. Komander – Winner: Moxley via submission

Bullet Club Gold challenge FTR and The Young Bucks to a match at All Out, and it is made official.

Toni Storm is visibly upset about what happened at All In. She says Saraya went completely off script, and now she is sat with no friends, no nothing. Wembley went tits up. She can’t calm down. She can’t trust anyone, not even these bloody shoes, which she throws at Renee Paquette.

Chris Jericho comes to the ring. We should celebrate the majesty of what was All In at Wembley Stadium. One of the best weekends of his career. Having a match against Will Ospreay was one of his favorites, and he will never forget this show. But there is one thing he does want to forget, and that is his treatment of Sammy Guevara after the match. He asks Sammy to come out and he does.

Jericho told Guevara he wasn’t sure what if he did anything to help him, but after watching back he saw that he did, so he wants to apologize for not thinking he didn’t do everything he could. He extends his hand for a shake. Guevara accepts it and tells him he always has his back. Jericho wonders if he could have done something else, or if Sammy could have hit him harder with the bat. Sammy thinks it’s funny, because when he was watching it, it looked like maybe if he had hit him harder with the Judas Effect, maybe he could have got it done.

Guevara asked him how he envisioned this. Jericho envisioned him leaving his pregnant wife to be part of a historic show over other guys back there who would have loved to be on that show. Maybe if he wasn’t watching his back so much, maybe he could have had a match. Jericho says that maybe if he keeps following his advice, he could be on the show next year. Sammy says he will listen to his advice so he does not lose on the biggest PPV. This begins to escalate. And then it doesn’t. They decide they like each other and want to go for the tag team titles.

#2. [NJPW Strong Openweight Championship] Eddie Kingston (c) vs. Wheeler Yuta – Winner: Eddie Kingston retains

MJF tells Adam Cole that he is taking a week off in a colorful manner, and his tag partner agrees. He has earned this.

Don Callis looks to drive a wedge between Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho, but Sammy tells him to get lost because he already has a family.

In the ring, Adam Cole thanks everyone for making All In a special night for him and his friend MJF, who tells us his neck is pretty banged up. MJF may not be able to make it to All Out. Roderick Strong storms out with The Kingdom. He asks if he cares more about MJF’s neck than his. Cole says this is absurd. He doesn’t even know who he is right now. Mike Bennett tells him to shut up because it’s story time. Back in 2010 in ROH, a 21-year-old Adam Cole faced a 25-year-old Mike Bennett. They got jobs that night and were signed to ROH, and they were bonded for life.

Cole was at his wedding and hosted his bachelor party. They went everywhere together. They picked up each other during their worst moments and celebrated each other during their best. Cole cares too much about what these idiots think about them, and forgot what The Kingdom meant to him. Matt Taven does not believe Cole is any different. He is the same leech he has always been. He thinks that attaching to MJF will get him to the AEW World title. When he looks back at pictures standing with “friends”, the only person he sees is himself, because he only cares about himself.

Adam Cole apologies. He knows they were close, but they need to accept the fact that MJF is his best friend. Roderick Strong cannot accept that. He is entering the Grand Slam tournament and beat MJF in the middle of the ring to become the new AEW World Champion with his real friends. If he is a real friend, he will be rooting for him, too. Cole says he is not in any condition to wrestle. Roderick says that unlike his soft tag team partner, he does not need a diamond ring or his neck to be 100% to win a match. He is going to break everyone’s back because he is a wrestling legend.

#3. Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker & Kris Statlander vs. Nyla Rose, Emi Sakura & Marina Shafir – Winners: Shida, Baker & Statlander

Ruby Soho surprises Statlander with a kick to the head, steals her title, and runs off with it. She leaves it on the ramp for the champ to pick it up.

The Acclaimed are here to let us know that everyone loves The Acclaimed. Also, Daddy Ass is back. It was a good day on the weekend when they became Trios Champions in front of 81k people at Wembley. One year ago, Chicago lifted The Acclaimed, so they wanted to come back to lift their new titles. They want to begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Daddy Ass has a big pair of scissors for this, and the new era has begun.

It is their house now. Welcome to the House Of Ass, and in this house they wear pink. These championship belts don’t look very good, so The Acclaimed have a surprise. They have some custom pink belts with a scissor feature. Billy Gunn says he can scissor himself now. They need to break these babies in, so on Collision, they will defend them. With that said, scissor my daddy ass.

#4. [International Championship] Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Penta El Zero Miedo – Winner: Cassidy retains

Orange Cassidy sits in a chair with a microphone. As animated as we have ever seen him, he tells us that every time he defends the title, the backpack gets a little heavier. But that’s fine, because he is here. He is wrestling. He is the International Champion.

This is what AEW is. It’s about doing this in spite of what you was told, like you’re too small. You’re too different to succeed in wrestling. But you do it anyway, so Jon Moxley, he better show up with more than a fork, because he will remain the champion, and he has no catchphrase.
