AEW Dynamite Results (9/27/2023)

#1. [International Championship] Rey Fenix (c) vs. Jeff Jarrett – Winner: Rey Fenix retains

MJF & Adam Cole go on a boat ride. Adam thanks his friend for bringing him out. MJF questions him about Cole being on the phone so long with Roderick that he couldn’t be there for his match.

Adam asks if MJF brought him out there to hit him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring and throw him overboard. Cole explains that it’s perfectly fine to have more than one friend. MJF accepts the talk and thanks him, because he almost got caught throwing a guy over once. Suddenly, they catch something on their fishing line… it’s Captain Insano! They bring him onboard and “that’s alright”.

In the ring, Don Callis explains why he was in Tokyo this week. He shows us some footage of them invading where Kota Ibushi trains. Takeshita takes out Kota with a weight. Callis tells Ibushi he isn’t safe anywhere. The Don Callis Family has never been stronger.

Sammy Guevara calls himself a hero, and Chris Jericho the villain. For four years he was holding him back. He was great on his own, and just as he was flying high, Jericho would clip his wings. Don Callis showed him how selfish Chris Jericho is. It’s time he becomes the star he was born to be. At Wrestle Dream they will take everything from Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and Kota Ibushi.

#2. Brian Cage vs. Nick Jackson vs. Claudio Castagnoli – Winner: Nick Jackson

Better Than You Bay Bay make their way to the ring. Adam Cole is using crutches. Who is ready for story time with Adam Cole bay bay? This is a sad chapter. Last week, he got hurt really bad. He got his ankle broke in three places and he needs surgery. He will do everything he can to get back as soon as possible. They can’t defend the titles, so unfortunately, they have to relinquish… MJF cuts him off.

Cole wouldn’t be hurt if it wasn’t for him. When he gets back from surgery, the ROH Tag titles will still be there for him, because MJF will take on The Righteous by himself in a handicap match. Roderick Strong shows up and tells Adam that he needs him, it’s an emergency. MJF calls Strong a simp, before telling Cole he needs to do what he needs to do. As Cole walks off with Strong, MJF gets to his next order of business, but is interrupted by Bullet Club Gold.

Jay White tells MJF to shut up. Everyone wants to hear the sweet exotic accent for a change. MJF says he has pubic hair on his face. He didn’t understand it when he read that “MJF will never be on the level of Jay White”. The show is all about MJF, because nobody is on the level of the devil. MJF says Jay is a hell of a talent, but when he has managed to convince some fans they are on the same level, he is nothing but tofu. Jay White was handed everything to flourish, however, when you pluck it all away, you get boring, bland, tasteless, tofu.

Jay White tells MJF that this is still the Switchblade Era, and he has gone soft. MJF gets hot and tells him he has no idea what he’s capable of. It seems Jay White has got a little under the champions skin.

In a backstage sit-down interview, Jim Ross asks Christian Cage what he thinks about Darby Allin pinning him twice. Cage says they were flukes and not for the title. Darby will be exposed at Wrestle Dream in front of his family. He brings up his dead uncle, but it doesn’t faze Darby at all. Cage asks him to bring all the family, including Nick. Darby says if he has the balls, he won’t bring Luchasaurus. Christian Cage says he is the TNT Champion, now and forever. Get used to it.

#3. Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Matt Jackson vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Austin Gunn – Winner: Orange Cassidy

#4. Willow Nightingale vs. Julia Hart (w/ Brody King) – Winner: Julia Hart with a Moonsault

Swerve Strickland and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page after a contract signing, and their stablemates are banned from ringside. Swerve says they are nothing like each other. What’s a cowboy to an outlaw? What’s a buckshot to a killshot? Page has had some time to think about some of his comments. He knew deep down that every day he came to work there was a black cloud over him that he couldn’t get rid of.

He weathered the storm, and he is still here. Through that downpour, he lost something. Determination. Passion. Hope. Whatever it was, the people deserved more from him. They deserved the best of him. Page deserves it for himself, so that’s what he will get. The best of Hangman. Swerve laughs at him and says that is the most pathetic thing he has heard. They go back and forth about Swerve not being able to fill Hangman’s boots, which leads to a slap, followed by Page stabbing Swerve’s hand with a pen.

Meanwhile, backstage, Jay White is being attacked by a bunch of hooded guys. One is wearing a MJF devil mask.
