Author’s POV, Running Commentary & Thoughts:

Women’s WarGames Match: Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, and Shotzi Blackheart vs. Damage CTRL (Bayley, Asuka, Iyo Sky, and Kairi Sane)

  • The babyface team has the advantage for this match.
  • Becky Lynch and Bayley are starting it off.
  • Shotzi is the next to enter the match, bringing in some hardware with some chairs and trash cans.
  • Iyo Sky evens the score with her entrance.
  • Bianca Belair comes into the match and starts dominating.
  • Kairi Sane does a weird march to get into the ring and brings in a huge trash can lid. Oversized, looking. They aren’t normally that huge.
  • Charlotte Flair is the last to enter for the babyface team.
  • Iyo jumps from the top of the cage while inside a trash can. Fun moment.
  • Asuka rounds out the heel team and the match “officially” begins. She brings in some more weaponry.
  • Becky and Bianca are chained together and quadruple dropkicked.
  • Shotzi gets some mist to the face to blind her as Damage CTRL is kicking ass and taking names.
  • Flair pulls off a moonsault from the top. It looked like she might’ve caught Iyo’s head with her leg on the way down.
  • Becky and Charlotte are back on the same page with a hug. I hope behind the scenes, they’re actually friends again.
  • Belair uses a fire extinguisher to Asuka to offset the mist.
  • Bayley stepped in the way of a spear for Kairi Sane, then suffered a series of other finishers. A Manhandle Slam from Becky off the ropes through a table scores the win for Team Belair!

Backstage, Alpha Academy, Chelsea Green and Piper Niven are eating Ruffles. Pretty Deadly comes over and there’s a debate between crisps and chips. All the chips spill.  R-Truth is back!!! He’s apparently been here the whole time. These aren’t crisps or chips, they’re Ruffles; and can’t we all just get along? Akira Tozawa does “The Ruffle Shuffle” dance.

Also backstage, Sami Zayn is pacing. He tells Jey Uso that Randy Orton still isn’t here. Jey is concerned that its his fault for putting Orton on the shelf in the first place and he won’t want to team with him. Zayn says whether Orton is there or not, they’ll go to war together and no matter what, he has Jey’s back.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Gunther (c) vs. The Miz

  • The Miz is hyped up tonight. Gunther’s his normal reserved self.
  • Most of this match has been The Miz taking the fight to Gunther and doing what he can to work on Gunther’s legs.
  • I always liked the Figure 4 on the ring post that Bret Hart used to do (and The Miz just replicated). Very cool move.
  • The Miz ripped off the turnbuckle pad. While the referee was distracted, he blasted Gunther with a low blow kick and followed that up with a Skull Crushing Finale, but it wasn’t enough, just like Gunther’s powerbomb wasn’t enough to put The Miz away earlier.
  • The Miz eventually taps out, though, to a Boston Crab.

Backstage, The Judgment Day hypes up JD McDonagh for his first main event at a premium live event. They discuss the idea that Orton will either not show up and they’ll have an advantage, or Orton’s just going to poison the opposite team anyway. Priest leaves to go talk to Drew McIntyre about “that one thing.”

Dragon Lee vs. Santos Escobar

  • Solid back and forth action. This is ultimately more of a filler spot for this match to be going on at, so I’m not surprised the crowd is on a bit of a down swing. But the action’s good.
  • Not too much to specifically talk about. They did their series of maneuvers, Dragon Lee looked good in his loss, but Santos Escobar ultimately scored the win with his Phantom Driver. For a straight-up normal exhibition, it was a thumbs up. Escobar winning was the right call as he has to look strong for an eventual match against Rey Mysterio.

There’s a Slim Jim ad featuring LA Knight. Also backstage, The New Day arrived driving a Slim Jim car.

Women’s World Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Zoey Stark

  • Stark’s fired up for the start of this, rocking Ripley with all sorts of moves.
  • It’s only a matter of time before Rhea is in charge, though, and showing off her strength.
  • Crowd is kind of dead, but pro-Ripley, it seems.
  • I don’t know what that maneuver off the ropes was supposed to be. Both just sort of landed awkwardly without doing anything. Definitely not seeing a replay of that.
  • Stark has her whole “Is that all you can do? Hit me with your best shot!” type enthusiasm. She gets it. Riptide for the win. Rhea is still your champion, in a match that was just meh.

Men’s WarGames Match: The Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh) and Drew McIntyre vs. Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn and Seth Rollins

  • Starting off the match are Finn Balor and Seth Rollins. Randy Orton still isn’t out for the babyface team.
  • CM Punk fans IMMEDIATELY erupt when the bell rings. This crowd’s going to be disappointed.
  • Advantage is for the heel team, so JD McDonagh is next up.
  • Jey Uso evens the score. Fans are chanting “yeet” for every one of his strikes.
  • Priest and McIntyre temporarily argue, but Priest says to stick to his plan. As team leader, he’s next out.
  • Priest uses a police riot baton as a weapon.
  • Sami Zayn is out for the babyface team. He takes a steel pipe off the cage and uses that temporarily as a weapon.
  • McIntyre starts dominating people once he’s out, meaning Dom is the last person on that team.
  • Jey and Sami pull off a 1D together.
  • Cody Rhodes is out, and since Randy Orton is still not in the mix, that’ll be up in the air after Dom comes out in 3 more minutes. Big pop for Cody joining the fray.
  • Rhodes introduces a bull rope. Rollins helps him out with the other end and they pull that up to Finn’s crotch. Seth now argues with Cody about why Orton isn’t out there.
  • “Dom, you suck” chant, if I heard that correctly. Time for Dirty Dom to come out.
  • Dom takes a 4-on-1 attack, but eventually, The Judgment Day is back on top.
  • No Orton out for his entrance.
  • Oh wait, Rhea Ripley is coming out with Priest’s Money in the Bank briefcase!
  • But no, Orton comes out, and it seems that’s going to spoil their plans. Orton looks JACKED.
  • JD McDonagh gets tossed from the cage into an RKO, but Orton tells Cody to get the win for the team after a Cross Rhodes to Priest. Team Rhodes is victorious!
  • No Orton heel turn…at least, not yet. You can never quite trust until the end of the show graphic pops up.
  • Oh shit! Cult of Personality just hit. CM Punk is out! WOOOOOW.
