WWE RAW (10/23/2023)
Finn Balor & Damian Priest of the Judgment Day make their way to the ring. They are back to being on top and running all of… Cody Rhodes interrupts their promo. He says Rhea Ripley is calling all the shots in the Judgment Day, including making deals with The Bloodline.
Cody believes Damian gave him a low blow last week. If he thought that was the last shot in this fight, he is wrong. Priest reminds him how he put him through a table, too. Also, he says that his story right now is about how he fails. They have a big event coming up, so how about Cody Rhodes vs. Damian Priest at Crown Jewel? Cody accepts, but what do we do now? How about they give the fans a preview right now? Damian likes that idea.
Rhea Ripley & Dominik Mysterio make their way to the ring. Jey Uso comes to Cody’s aid. JD shows up and works with Priest to strike Cody’s leg with a Conchairto. And that is enough for officials to stop the fighting.
#1. The New Day vs. Alpha Academy (w/ Maxxine Dupri & Akira Tozawa) – Winners: The New Day
Rhea Ripley talks to Seth Rollins. She lets him know that with how hard he has been going, he may need some help from the Judgment Day to see off Drew McIntyre. Ripley says if he wants to be anything like Roman Reigns, by holding the title over 1,000 days, he needs someone to watch his back. Seth Rollins tells her he does not want to be anything like Roman Reigns.
#2. [NXT Women’s Championship] Becky Lynch (c) vs. Indi Hartwell – Winner: Becky Lynch retains via submission
A disappointed Candice LeRae is attacked by Xia Li, who sends a message to Becky Lynch and Indi Hartwell.
Adam Pearce hosts a 5-woman contract signing for the World title match at Crown Jewel. He brings out the challengers, but not Ripley, because she apparently causes too much trouble. After Nia Jax signs, Rhea Ripley shows up anyway, and tells Adam Pearce this division will have four less woman after she is done. Nia Jax calls her smart for not stepping in the ring. Rhea is smart because she wants Nia to squash the rest for her.
Nia repeatedly explains this strategy to the others, before getting to Raquel Rodriguez, who is from Texas, so it needs explaining extra slowly. This is enough of an insult for Raquel to strike her and start a fight among them. Despite security getting involved, it is not enough to stop it. Nia Jax stands tall after squashing Raquel with a Samoan Drop.
Backstage, Ludwig Kaiser motivates Giovanni Vinci to take out Johnny Gargano. Bronson Reed shows up to let them know that their boss gave him a hell of a fight last week. Kaiser tells him to tell Gunther himself, and he walks away with Vinci. Akira Tozawa randomly pops up to challenge Bronson Reed to a match It is initially declined because Bronson feels merciful, but then Tozawa chops him. Reed tells Tozawa it is his funeral. Maxxine Dupri is upset because she was meant to be watching him.
#3. Johnny Gargano vs. Giovanni Vinci (w/ Ludwig Kaiser) – Winner: Johnny Gargano
Shinsuke Nakamura asks who is worthy of setting him free? He is looking for a challenger who will bring out the best in him.
Logan Paul talks about how his last boxing opponent got dropped and hasn’t got a job anymore. When he wins the US title, he may bring it to RAW to give them something to talk about. Dominik Mysterio shows up. They both agree the only person who needs humbling around here is Rey Mysterio. Dom tries to speak but is drowned out. Logan Paul invites Samantha Irvin in to the ring.
Logan wants to say how sorry he is that she had to announce him as the winner of his match against her husband Ricochet. As a preview, he asks her to announce him as the new United States Champion. Ricochet rushes in to the ring to take out Logan Paul and Dominik Mysterio by himself. And he almost succeeds, but they get out of dodge.
#4. Natalya & Nikki Cross vs. Chelsea Green & Piper Niven – Winners: Green & Niven*
*Nikki Cross arrived to the match in a catatonic state. After a few minutes, she walked out on Natalya.
#5. Sami Zayn vs. Drew McIntyre – Winner: Drew McIntyre with an assist from Rhea Ripley
#6. Bronson Reed vs. Akira Tozawa (w/ Maxxine Dupri) – Winner: Bronson Reed with Tsunami
#7. Jey Uso vs. Damian Priest – Winner: Damian Priest with an assist from the Judgment Day
Judgment Day grab a couple of chairs, but a hobbling Cody Rhodes makes the rescue. After saving Jey Uso, he almost gets his own back on Damien Priest (by setting up a Conchairto), but Finn Balor saves his stablemate.
