We bring you live coverage for the episode of WWE SmackDown airing on February 9, 2024.
The show beings with Triple H, Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis in the ring. Triple H says it feels we are on the Road To WrestleMania. Last night in Las Vegas, it was an incredible kickoff event to get us started on that road to the grandest stage of them all. Somewhere last night, they took a hard left turn, and that road is on fire.
It feels really good, but he wants to clear up one thing. He feels like there was some confusion in the air. Maybe some people don’t know their role. So, he wanted to come out here and set the record straight. Some tried to assert their authority, when they don’t really have any, because he doesn’t really care where you sit, there is one thing that is clear, whether people like them or not, the answers come from one place only. And right now, you are looking at him.
Let him just say this. In the main event at WrestleMania XL, Roman Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes. Now, there are some people back there that will be disappointed. They might not like that decision, but it doesn’t matter that you don’t like the decision.
Welcome to the Road To WrestleMania. Nick Aldis shifts the attention to Seth Rollins and the World Championship. They have collectively agreed that he will be challenged at WrestleMania by the winner of the Elimination Chamber. We kick things off tonight to determine the participants in that match. And to reiterate the fact that WWE management is a united front.
Adam Pearce directs us to the tron to show us the competitors in the Elimination Chamber: Randy Orton, Bronson Reed, Kevin Owens, Logan Paul, AJ Styles, The Miz, Bobby Lashley, Ivar, Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, Dominik Mysterio, and LA Knight.
LA Knight joins the team at the commentary table for the next match.
#1. [Elimination Chamber Qualifier] Drew McIntyre vs. AJ Styles – Winner: Drew McIntyre
Sami Zayn says nothing is certain in WWE, especially at this time of year. He doesn’t have time to get emotional about what happened last year. He has an opportunity to get to the Elimination Chamber tonight, but he has to get through Randy Orton. It is not an easy battle, but it is a path, and he will take it.
Pretty Deadly are taking some quality time away. They get winked at by Queen Elizabeth from heaven. Elton Prince says it is their time to shine on the Road To WrestleMania. Are they ready? YES BOY!
#2. [Elimination Chamber Qualifier] Bianca Belair vs. Michin – Winner: Bianca Belair
Triple H lets Bron Breakker know how proud he is of him. Breakker asks if he has any advice for which brand he should go with. Paul Heyman pops in, shakes Bron Breakker’s hand, and then let’s Triple H know he will be back next week with Roman Reigns & The Rock.
Bayley makes her way to the ring. She struggles to know what to say about what happened last week. Whether you like her or not, it seems she is cool. The fans know what this means to her. Damage CTRL meant everything to her. They were her family.
She gave everything she possibly could, and all they did was take. She thought that after she won the Royal Rumble, that everything would be fine, but it wasn’t. They just kept laughing at her, and she isn’t an idiot. At WrestleMania, Iyo Sky is going to learn the hard way.
Dakota Kai shows up. She says she had no idea all of this was going down. Bayley says she knew what was going on. Dakota Kai says she was put in a tough spot and believed in Damage CTRL. Iyo Sky did too, until Asuka & Kairi Sane came along. They got in her head and the rest is history. Dakota said she didn’t know how to tell her what was going on.
She misses the three of them, the OG Damage CTRL. They always had each other’s back. She wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Bayley. It seemed her plan was working, because she won the Royal Rumble and they were so close to having it all. She thought the situation would blow over, but it didn’t. Bayley asks where she stands. Damage CTRL enter and Dakota Kai bails. She grabs a chair and gets in the ring. Dakota swings the chair past Bayley to aim for Iyo, which sends Damage CTRL backtracking. It seems Dakota Kai has picked her side.
Backstage, Randy Orton tells us that he couldn’t be more right that not everyone makes it to WrestleMania. Last year, he was injured and on the sidelines. He learned a valuable lesson called patience. A viper always knows when to strike, and he knows how important it is to win. His road to WrestleMania has taken a slight detour, but in the chamber there will be one constant. The three most destructive letters in all of entertainment. R..K..O.
Bobby Lashley, Street Profits & B-Fab send a warning to Final Testament, and Bronson Reed, who Bobby Lashley will face in an Elimination Chamber Qualifier match on RAW.
#3. [Tag Team Championship #1 Contender] Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate vs. DIY’s Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano – Winners: Dunne & Bate
Logan Paul is annoyed that he has been put in a qualifying match for the Elimination Chamber, because he is more than qualified, and he wanted a challenger for his United States Champion. Nick Aldis tells him that next week he will defend the title against The Miz.
#4. [Elimination Chamber Qualifier] Randy Orton vs. Sami Zayn – Winner: Randy Orton
The show ends with a face off between Drew McIntyre & Randy Orton.
