Did Becky Lynch Just Have Her “Stone Cold” Moment Last Night?

Last night, we may have all witnessed history. Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch led the yearly invasion of RAW from the women of the blue brand. It started when she had Ronda in a submission hold in the locker room. Becky then led all of Smackdown’s women out into the arena and laid waste to every woman of the red brand. Somewhere in the midst of the melee, Becky’s nose was broken and she bled profusely from her face. Apparently, Nia Jax nailed a stiff shot to her, causing Becky to don the crimson mask. However, someone with Becky’s spirit continued to fight, and she laid waste to Ronda Rousey by taking out Ronda’s arm with a chair. The end of the segment came with a bloodied Becky taunting Ronda from the top of the stage, letting out a war cry of sorts with blood trickling down her face. She looked like a lion finishing a successful hunt. And guess what? It was probably the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.

The reason I ask if Becky had her “Stone Cold” moment was because that was what the moment exactly reminded me of. We all know the situation. WrestleMania 13. Stone Cold and Bret Hart fight in a legendary submission match, and the match ended with Stone Cold, who was the heel at the time, bleeding profusely from his face. He was caught in the Sharpshooter submission hold, a move that Bret has made many people tap out to. Any normal heel would tap out in that situation, but Stone Cold didn’t. Instead, he continued to fight until the blood loss and blunt force caused him to pass out. He didn’t win the match, but what he left with was probably greater. It propelled one of the most legendary runs in the history of sports entertainment. Of course, Becky’s moment last night may not compare because it is not nearly as iconic or historically significant. But isn’t the concept the same?

It must be noted how white hot Becky is right now. She has ascended into a level of heel-dom that is legendary. She has reached the point where despite being a clear heel, she gets loud cheers wherever she goes. In a RAW vs. Smackdown storyline, a Smackdown superstar was being actively cheered for in front of a RAW audience. Some of the greatest superstars in WWE history are heels that are able to get loud cheers and reactions because they are so damn good at being evil. It’s a weird paradox, but that dynamic led to what made superstars such as Stone Cold and The Rock legendary. Will Becky end up being as important as either of those two? Probably not. But it’s worth noting that every major run starts with a singular moment.

This Sunday, Becky Lynch is (hopefully) going to face off against RAW Women’s Champion, Ronda Rousey. It’s being rumored that the broken nose and concussion that was given to her after Monday Night has officials thinking about pulling the match. With the situation going on with Alexa Bliss and her multiple concussions, WWE can be hardly blamed for being overly cautious. But assuming that the match is still on, Becky should win 1000%. She is simply on another level right now, and I think you can tell that she has fully embraced this new side of her character. Beforehand, she was just the red-head that came out to the ring looking to put smiles on people’s faces. Now, she doesn’t give a damn about what anybody thinks, and she has credibility by winning high-profile matches.

This is Becky’s world now, and we are all just living in it.

Becky’s transformation after Summerslam is shaping up to be something legendary that should have been done a long time ago. All of the times that she was royally screwed over and stepped on for other people to get a chance at the top has led the woman we have seen today. She has probably been the most neglected member of the Four Horsewomen before Summerslam, but now we are finally starting to see her true potential.

Last night was Becky’s signature moment if you ask me. She’s a champion, she’s literally on top of the WWE Universe, and she’s soaking it all in. This was her Stone Cold moment, and we should all be privileged that we got to bear witness to such a momentous occasion. What say you?
