Go-Home for AEW Revolution 2022 & Monday Morning Q&A

Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.

So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!

1) Are you more excited to see Buddy Matthews teaming with The House of Black, or to see another clash against Malakai Black in the ring?

For the moment, I like the idea of them being a tag team. They’ve wrestled enough times that I can go a little while longer without just jumping straight into another rematch. This is a different dynamic, and since Buddy’s weakness has always been his character and mic skills, being in a faction helps mask that.

Eventually, when the group splits, that’s when I’ll be pumped for the rematch. It will mean a lot more than if he just showed up and suddenly was feuding with Black again.

2) If Isaiah “Swerve” Scott (or Shane Strickland or whatever he goes by) joins AEW, what do you think his ceiling will be?

I think he’s super talented, but with AEW’s roster having as many strong wrestlers as it is—many of whom I think are better fits for the top of the line—I don’t think Swerve is going to reach world title status.

He’d be a fantastic TNT champion. I think he has a great shot at winning that. The tag titles are not far from his reach, either, if he’s able to find the right teammate. But I’d imagine the biggest benefit to having him on the roster will be to have someone who can be a free thinker and a great performer in the midcard range, similar to the spot that a Tony Nese, Shawn Spears or Kip Sabian seems to hover around, rather than a Jon Moxley type level.

I’m always up for being proven wrong in those things, though!

3) Which team do you expect will be the final contenders in the three-way for the AEW World Tag Team Championship?

My gut reaction tells me The Young Bucks, since that’s the most obvious pick. However, maybe AEW doesn’t want to jump straight into having them directly fight reDRagon quite yet. That would make sense to me.

If that’s not the case, I’m thinking Santana and Ortiz. The feud with Eddie Kingston and Chris Jericho brought their lack of tag team success to the forefront. If they aren’t at least remotely in contention for the belts any time soon, it will look like they still care more about hanging around Jericho’s feud than anything else.

4) Was MJF’s promo on Dynamite this past week a master class in heel manipulation, or did it stray too far into babyface territory where you won’t be able to boo him the same anymore?

This was legendary. I’ve already written it in my notes as one of the best things of the year. For the people who say they can’t see themselves booing MJF anymore after this, I think they’re falling right into the trap, which means it is PERFECT.

This is the type of manipulation that narcissists do. It’s textbook psychology translated into a wrestling promo that can appeal to modern audiences. Back in the day, you used to be able to get away with everything because people thought it was real. Then, everyone realized it was scripted and it became harder to be a heel. MJF found a loophole.

Brilliant. I’m astonished. Now, even more so, I want him to win at Revolution.

5) Do you think any other matches will be added to the card for Revolution? If not, what do you think will be bumped to the Buy In?

I’m surprised nothing seems confirmed about this Jade Cargill vs. Tay Conti match. Wasn’t that basically announced? If that’s still up in the air, then I expect that to be confirmed and potentially on the Buy In. The other potential thing to be bumped would be the tornado trios match.

However, if they’re just adding another match to the card, I think we’re looking at one of those random “two people fight just because it’s a free match and it doesn’t matter or have any build” scenarios that have happened in the past. That could be anything like Pres10 Vance against Max Caster or it could be something more meaningful, like PAC vs. Buddy Matthews.

Let us know your thoughts about these questions by answering them in the comments!
