Sheamus to be the Next WWE World Heavyweight Champ? Say It Ain’t So!

We all know about the unfortunate injury that has set WWE storylines back through numerous ppv’s and shows by now, but it still remains to be seen how they will move forward. It’s a terrible situation for WWE as it results in losing yet another top star while in the midst of a battle for more ratings. Randy Orton went down with injury recently, John Cena is out due to other commitments and Sting is down as well, due to an injury he sustained against Seth Rollins at WWE Night of Champions.

The year of 2015 has been plagued by the injury bug that has consisted of NXT and main roster stars playing a game of musical rehab. There might not be another year in history that could compare injury wise to losing this many names in this amount of time.

Prior to Monday Night Raw the WWE following was notified of a Singles Tournament that would be held to crown the Next Champ. However, if most of you guys are like me, the thoughts of adding a few secret entries or surprise opponents would have been key to making it relevant. Instead, it is your typical bracket that consists of tired matches with the same predictable outcomes.

How many times do we have to watch the same matches with the same outcome? Did anyone really think Roman would lose to Show? Who thought KO would fall to Titus O’Neil? It just seems like another squandered opportunity to run a new twist for a show that desperately needs it.

This all brings me to the opening segment between Roman Reigns and Triple H. It went down the way most of us envisioned as the King or Kings offered Roman a piece of the Authority’s Power. Obviously Roman declined and played on the statement that he has always worked for everything he’s ever accomplished. This could be a way for creative to build up his character in the hopes of him catching on as a resilient character who never gives up. Hmmmm, sound familiar?

I continue to scan over the names in my head of who could be champion. We have all been through every scenario from Sting grabbing a piece of WWE Gold to a special medal given to Sister Abigail. These all seem too easy to predict. I know this sounds funny based on the fact that I have been complaining for months about the lack of intrigue and the predictable finishes. However, this time I feel like we are on a different journey and one that was written all over Monday Night Raw.

The long segment that lasted a little over 15 minutes and drew some noticeable B-O-R-I-N-G chants showed me one thing that I still do not want to believe; Sheamus will cash in to be the Next WWE Champ and face of the WWE. After hearing the countless references about Rollins’ cash in at WM 31, it made me think that the one way to get back at Roman for turning the offer down is for him to lose out to another briefcase. This time the only difference will be this piece of luggage comes all the way from Ireland.

Sheamus can cash it in anywhere he wants and the Survivor Series Tournament seems to be a fantastic opportunity to do so. This could set the scene for some different rivalries that we haven’t seen before. It could also give others like Cesaro more of chance to come close to title contention.

However, this idea has been shot down by many around the wrestling scene claiming that Sheamus cashing in his case is not supposed to happen any time soon. We will have to wait and see what WWE decides to do. Either way, the speculation on who will win the strap has definitely given us something exciting to wrap our heads around. Note to WWE Creative; Please don’t screw this up! Thoughts?
