The Comeback Kid: Kofi Kingston

Another midnight stroll, as I try my best to catch some shut eye. Before I finished this sentence, it occurred to me that I am writing my 2nd blog of the day about comeback. I define comeback as a means to always rise among adversity and find success. I find that at the darkest at time to still hold truth and the person who drives that point home is non other than Kofi Kingston.

Kofi Kingston broke into WWE in 2007, with a horrible accent and gimmick of Jamaican descent. The gimmick was laughable to me because I never took it serious. Back in 2007, no superstar was making a way from being “foreigner” and finding success in it. While Kofi didn’t surprise me at all in this stale gimmick because he was the wrong person for it. It wasn’t Kofi’s fault but he could’ve adapted the gimmick better. I believe that Kingston truly found himself in 2009, when he faced off against Randy Orton. The rivalry amongst the two might not be remembered today, but it really showcase Kofi aggressive side. Kingston embody ruthless aggression by attacking Orton whenever he could find leverage, and he showed that when he performed a boom drop on Orton, live in MSG.

I believed that Kofi’s true colors came out that night in MSG. He dropped the ill-fated Jamaican accent which I dreaded for so long and added zest to what exemplify his character. Even when Kingston would lose match, he lost it as through he won it. To explain, he performed these energetic moves, that his counterpart was dazed as the zest of Kingston flew across the room. Kingston, main stay was his crafty ways of staying inside the Rumble even when it looked like he got eliminated. I give Kingston the moniker he “Comeback Kid” because he always found a way to entertain a crowd, that was looking for the Main Event, and at times Kofi showed that something better than that. I am not Kingston mark but I respect that he could make a crowd light up.

Kingston has won numerous mid card champions throughout his decade long career. Throughout his reigns, he attempts to mesh his quick feet to put on trouble for his counterparts in the ring, denouncing that it would not be easy to overthrown the West Gani native. Kingston is exempt to fear because he performs defying stunts in MITB matches, a modern day Shelton Benjamin. Kingston gets the moniker of “Comeback Kid” over Shelton Benjamin because Kofi holds on at the toughest moments and proves worthy at times at great doubt, even when people believe he’s the next to go home. To you Kingston, I say cheers. To you the audience I say, please leave your comment and bashful comments are welcomed to make my blogs better. Cheers.
