Darby Allin will team with Sting to defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks in a Tornado Tag Match this Sunday at AEW Revolution 2024.
The event will feature the final match in Sting’s nearly 40-year career and will emanate from the Greensboro Coliseum where he faced Ric Flair at Clash of the Champions I in March 1988, which was considered to be the bout that established Sting as a main event star in the wrestling industry.
On a recent edition of the “Battleground” podcast, Allin weighed in on the importance of the title match. He said,
“It scares me. This is the very last match, there is nothing left to lose. I think someone might go to the hospital. It’s going to be a wild fight. I know that I’ll stop at nothing to make sure it’s one of the most memorable matches that he’s ever had. People are always going to remember this. If you crap the bed in the last match, people are always going to remember that.”
He continued, “It’s my mission statement to make sure that this man’s career ends with the respect it deserves. If I have to sacrifice myself, so be it, a sacrifice must be made.”
