WWE Superstars John Cena and Roman Reigns put on quite the entertaining segment during their contract signing for their one-on-on match at No Mercy last night (Mon. August 29, 2017). Things got personal on the mic between the pair at times, as Reigns referenced to rumors that Cena buries young talent while Cena fired back by stating “The Guy” is nothing more than”a cheap-ass corporately created John Cena bootleg.”
Per a report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, the segment between Cena and Reigns was ‘completely’ planned out and the main verbiage was directly from the writing team – not Reigns or Cena going off-script. Reigns did, however, at one point get lost in his promo when he forgot one of his lines, which Cena called him out for.
Samoa Joe was originally slated to face-off against Cena on RAW last night, however, Joe suffered an injury that kept him off the show. While “The Destroyer’s” injury did result in some changes being made to the show, Cena and Reigns’ confrontation was always planned to go down.
