Ric Flair debuted on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite as he was revealed as Tony Khan’s “gift” to Sting, who is planning to retire at next year’s Revolution pay-per-view event.
During the show, Sting praised his tag team partner, Darby Allin, and remembered his time in Philadelphia, PA. Flair said he wanted to stand by Sting’s side until his retirement at AEW Revolution 2024.
Later, Christian Cage, Nick Wayne, and Luchasaurus confronted the fan favorites, leading to a trios match being scheduled for Full Gear 2023. The match will pit the heels against Sting, Allin, and an unknown partner.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Tony Khan wanted to bring in Flair for the Sting retirement story and he will be with AEW through at least March.
