As has been discussed and reported on numerous times here on eWn, during last Friday’s edition of WWE SmackDown, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch had a title exchange segment that quickly turned ugly (and into a shoot), as the segment didn’t go as planned with Flair “dropping” the RAW Women’s title on the canvas. This was said to have been done intentionally in order to make Lynch look bad. Lynch was pissed about this and both women had a verbal confrontation backstage with multiple WWE officials, including Vince McMahon, being very unhappy over the entire situation.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the heat on Flair has been building over time, mostly due to little things piling up with this incident with Becky Lynch being the icing on the cake, so to speak. Most of the little things have to do with match structure involving Charlotte, as she’s a heel performing babyface style spots like dives or moonsaults (for example) in and out of the ring. Because of that, its become very hard to get her over as a heel when she’s working an in-ring style that is more akin to a babyface star.

Another incident also deals with Rhea Ripley, who had her push cooled down after losing the RAW Women’s Championship to Charlotte and thus taking a backseat, as she has been relegated to tag team action with Nikki A.S.H. Many felt Flair was to blame for Ripley’s downfall, but any decision of this sort has to come directly from Vince McMahon and had nothing to do directly with Flair.

Flair’s incident with Becky Lynch wasn’t her first in recent months, as a match with Nia Jax turned into a legitimate scrap at one point. As with this incident, most people took the side of Jax when that happened, supporting her for standing up to Flair and not being bullied.
