As seen on Wednesday, multiple WWE Superstars and staff, including producers, writers and more were released from the company. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the age of some of their employees was a factor in determining which staff members would get released. Much of the talent who were cut were older.

One example of this is Mike Chioda being cut instead of some of the other referees. Chioda is 53 years old and had been working for WWE for 31 years. WWE officials reportedly want to have “younger faces” on TV.

As far as the producers are concerned, Billy Kidman is 45, Mike Rotunda is 62, Scott Armstrong is 58 and Fit Finlay is 62. Lance Storm is 51. The fact that Storm was a recent hire and lives in Canada where travel is difficult right now were things that didn’t do him any favors.

With that being said, the producers aren’t outright fired. They are currently on furlough. It’s possible that some, if not all, of them could be brought back when WWE starts touring again. All of them will still get company benefits but will not be paid.
