According to sources, WWE is interested in signing former MMA star Matt Riddle for their NXT brand. While there are some reports that WWE has already signed Riddle, that is not confirmed and there’s no indication that he has undergone the normal pre-signing medical testing.
Multiple sources have confirmed that WWE has been interested in Riddle for some time now. Riddle is still scheduled for several indie events, including the EVOLVE shows on August 4th and 5th. Riddle has removed himself from bookings for Over the Top Wrestling in Ireland, which takes place the same weekend as WWE’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event. With that being said, this has led to some speculation that WWE may be planning to debut Riddle at ringside during the NXT Takeover: Brooklyn IV event. There were several reports a few weeks ago that WWE officials were concerned about Riddle’s “love for marijuana” and his openness regarding it.
Also, NJPW is said to be once again interested in using Riddle.
