Changes Made During RAW Legends Night Broadcast, Legends Not Appearing & More

We have some big details concerning multiple changes that were made before RAW Legends Night went on the air. According to PWInsider, the original plan was to have Hulk Hogan come out to the ring to cut a promo, but instead he did a promo backstage to hype up the “hPhone”. He and Ric Flair were also part of the production meeting held for the show prior to RAW going live.

Additionally, WWE had planned to have Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton as the main event for the show, but instead chose to go with the WWE Championship Match between champion Drew McIntyre and Keith Lee, with Goldberg appearing and cutting a promo on McIntyre to set up their match for the Royal Rumble.

One important thing to note is that WWE had planned for McIntyre to cut a promo on the legends following his victory over Keith Lee to set up for Goldberg’s surprise appearance and promo on the WWE Champion. Unfortunately, the McIntyre promo was cut entirely and all we got was the Goldberg segment due to time constraints. Having said that, this would explain why Goldberg’s promo came off as a bit “odd” when mentioning that McIntyre had no respect for the legends that came before him. Also, McIntyre had reportedly hit Goldberg with the Glasgow Kiss (Headbutt) following their face off. This was intended to be the true ending of last night’s show.

As for WWE legends such as Mick Foley, Carlito and Candice Michelle not appearing in spite of being advertised. Foley is currently overcoming COVID-19. Even though Foley is now no longer contagious and has beaten the virus, he chose not to appear.
