A report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has shed some further insight into the physical altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry at AEW All In 2023, which has caused both men to be suspended by AEW.
According to one source, Perry apparently stated that his comments aimed at Punk during his match with HOOK on the pre-show were just a means to generate heel heat. In response, Punk forcefully shoved Perry, and Perry confronted him, leading to Punk’s alleged chokehold attempt.
Tony Khan swiftly intervened in the altercation, ordering CM Punk to release Perry. After they were separated, Punk allegedly directed his aggression toward Khan, attempting to lunge at him. However, several individuals stepped in to prevent further escalation. Throughout the altercation, Punk was heard repeatedly shouting “I Quit” at Khan. Dave Meltzer wrote,
“People immediately broke it up and Khan was yelling at Punk to let him go. That person said that once they were separated, Punk lunged in Khan’s direction but a number of people got in his way while Punk was yelling ‘I Quit.'”
Notably, there remain conflicting reports from different sources in regard to what actually went down between CM Punk and Jack Perry at All In 2023. Regardless, both men are suspended pending the results of an internal investigation and won’t be working AEW All Out 2023 in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, IL.
