You may recall that CM Punk had posted to his Twitter page saying he was in quarantine as a precaution due to a future television/movie role. It seems as though that Punk may have been referring to his appearance for the upcoming wrestling drama set to air on STARZ titled, “Heels”, featuring Arrow’s Stephen Amell.
Stephen Amell made the following comment on Punk’s involvement with the show:
Please welcome @CMPunk to @HeelsSTARZ — He was a little rusty in the ring yesterday, but I assured him it was just like riding a bike. pic.twitter.com/EyoxizTKyQ
— Stephen Amell (@StephenAmell) January 31, 2021
Punk will be portraying a foe/villain to Stephen Amell’s character and will be competing in the ring. The idea is for Punk’s character to be in a recurring role. Back in 2017, Punk was set to be the heel character Jack Spade and was well liked by the crew. However, the project was put on hold. Amell would ultimately be placed in the role of Jack Spade for the show, so Punk was brought back into the picture and as a new character entirely.
Luke Hawx, who is a wrestling coordinator and also stuntman, will be a part of the show, along with Doc Gallows, Stevie Richards, Perry Hawx, and J Spade, all of which who have filmed work for the show.
The following is a synopsis for Heels:
“Heels is a story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small-town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals, Jack Spade (Amell) and Ace Spade (Ludwig), war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy (Ludwig) and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel (Amell). But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.”
