Fans will be waiting even longer to see Gable Steveson make his WWE in-ring debut.

Steveson signed with WWE as an NIL athlete and was later drafted to RAW as part of the October 2021 WWE Draft. The Olympic Gold medalist made a cameo at WrestleMania 38. The original plans called for Steveson to appear on episodes of WWE RAW starting in January 2022 that would build to his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 38.

Steveson recently returned to amateur competition and on Monday confirmed with FloWrestling that he wants to return to NCAA competition next year as he still has one year of eligibility left.

This is due to the 2021 season not counting towards eligibility coming out the COVID-19 pandemic. The report did state that Steveson will have to sort out scheduling details with WWE before his return is official.
