Is The WWE HOF Serious Anymore?

Why should the WWE Hall of Fame be taken seriously when people like Drew Carey are inducted and actual wrestlers like Bossman and Bulldog are not? I get the fact that politics and harsh personal feelings cloud judgements in regards to Alundra Blaze for example. She left the WWE and put their womens belt in the trash; literally, in a trash can on WCW’s Nitro during the Monday Night Wars. Because of her and so many others who jumped ship so to speak for the o’mighty dollar not only affected their own personal legacies but also their fans desire to legitimize and immortalize their talents/legacy in the WWE HOF. Granted, their actions are their own and bridges will be burt. However, being a wrestling fan and seeing guys like Drew Carey, Pete Rose and countless others whom make me scratch my head and ask: why am I even getting upset/why should I even care/why take their HOF serious? Answer being: simply put, my admiration, passion and respect for this business and particular careers like Rick Rude and Macho Man make me IRATE to say the least when I don’t see them in the HOF but I do see Donald Trump? I understand the need for WWE to induct celebrities but… how about actual Celeb’s that helped put this business on the map, Cyndi Lauper & Mr. T come to mind.

Just when I think WWE is starting to take their HOF serious when they induct amazing talents like Antonio Inoki and Bruno Samartino, they throw in guys like the Ultimate Warrior??? How about Muta or countless others that are more deserving. My apologies for this being more of a rant, than an editorial but it has been on my mind. My apologies once more for Warrior being used as an example. Certainly not a hater by any means. The man is more marketable than most and certainly has left a footprint on this business but… I’d even feel teams such as Demolition, Bulldogs and Bushwackers and even jobbers like the Mountie and Repo Man are more deserving. However, guys like Sid and countless others get labeled as “alumni” and never get thought of twice for being inducted.

We know full well some celebrities (Mr. T) and many families of deceased wrestlers (Owen Hart & Macho Man’s family) don’t want them in or aren’t ready for whatever reason but, its still no reason to put anyone that did a 5 minute appearance here and there in the HOF is it? Perhaps this subject matter has never been serious… All I do know is being analytical as a fan doesn’t help due to passion and respect for certain Stars makes any and every judgement bias. In time, when families heal or grudges are forgotten either it be due to Macho Man leaving Vince high and dry while taking Slim Jim (huge sponsor for WWE at the time) and headed for WCW, or because of the rumor possibly being true of Macho madness & wild child Stephanie doing the deed… who knows and more importantly, who cares! Time heals all things, sometimes as a fan’s perspective, its not fast enough while witnessing so many undeserving enter in before hand.

What say you fellow fanatics? Should we even take this HOF serious anymore? Or was it ever serious to begin with?
