AEW commentator Jim Ross believes that Ernest ‘The Cat’ Miller didn’t succeed behind the desk as it was simply not a position he had enough experience in.

After joining WWE following the demise of WCW, Miller would commentate on WWE Velocity for eight months in addition to having a handful of matches.

Speaking on a recent edition of his “Grilling JR” podcast, Ross was asked about Miller and why his time as a commentator did not pan out. He said,

“I thought Ernest could bring a lot of value to the equation. But what you’ve got here, guys are being put into positions, Conrad, that they had never experienced before to any degree.

“They came in green, they came in inexperienced, and more often than not, what I learned to know over the years is that sometimes to be an effective broadcaster in pro wrestling, it’s not what you say sometimes, it’s what you don’t say. That’s really important.”

Miller’s time with WWE ended in 2004 and in 2019, he claimed that he was released after being told that WWE “couldn’t write for me.
