Jim Ross Reveals Why He Won’t Be Calling Ric Flair’s Final Match

While the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair wants WWE Hall of Famer and AEW commentator Jim Ross to call his final match at Starrcast V, that likely won’t be happening.

During the latest edition of his “Grilling JR” podcast, “Good Ole'” JR commented on his health issues, and why it often prevents him from traveling. Due to this, he won’t be able to call the action.

As many of you know by now, Ross began skin cancer treatment back in October and has been cancer-free since December. JR said,

“Travel has been a problem for me. Anybody that flies understands this — you swell. Your feet and lower appendages swell on an airplane. So you’re in that pressurized cabin longer.

“It’s not healed enough to take the pain away or make it comfortable to do anything. Hell, walking hurts me. Sitting too long with my feet down below my waist hurts me.

“I know Ric [Flair] wanted me to call his last match. He’ll have David [Crockett] and Tony [Schiavone] and they’ll do a great job. I wish I was gonna be sitting there with ’em, but it’s not in the cards at this time. We’ll see, I wish it was.”

In recent weeks, Jim Ross has only been calling the second hour of AEW Dynamite.
