Sports Business Reporter Darren Rovell noted on his Twitter account on Monday that a new lawsuit was filed by Robert Vanech against the Alliance of American Football and Charlie Ebersol. It turns out that the original plan for the AAF was to resurrect the XFL name themselves.

It all started when there was a meeting set up by the AAF with McMahon and NBC officials to offer them $50 million to buy the XFL property. After this meeting, McMahon decided to relaunch the league on his own.

Charlie Ebersol was the director of ESPN’s 30 for 30 documentary on the XFL. The relaunch season for the XFL kicks off in 2020.

All eight teams playing in the inaugural season of the XFL reboot was revealed on December 5th.
