Maven doesn’t understand why people don’t like former WWE announcer and Tough Enough competitor Josh Matthews.

For those who may not recall, Maven and Matthews competed on the first season of Tough Enough. While Maven was the winner, it was actually Matthews who went on to have a longer career.

During a recent appearance on the “Notsam Wrestling” podcast, Maven commented on the notion that people have an issue with Matthews, and more.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On the notion that people have an issue with Matthews: “I’ve never understood why. Why would anyone hate Josh?”

On beating Matthews in the first season of Tough Enough: “Josh could have won Tough Enough easily. I’m glad he didn’t because I think he’s had a better overall career in what he’s landed. He’s the Kevin Dunn of TNA, and he’s good at it!”

In other news, Calvin Tankman captured the DEADLOCK Pro World Title by defeating Colby Corino at the company’s December 10th live event.

Speaking on a recent edition of the “MuscleManMalcolm” podcast, Tankman commented on his big moment, and more.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On his pronounced rise in the DPW hierarchy: “A culmination of a lot of work, man. I’ve been there since day one, I’d like to think of myself as one of the stars, the fans call me the gatekeeper. But now the gatekeeper has become the standard. I think it’s been that way for a while, I just needed to go through with it.”

On what it felt like when the three count happened: “It’s always a shock. Not shock as in I didn’t think I could do it, but as a wrestler, you’re always thinking, ‘If they kick out of this, I’ll go to this next.’ When the three count happens, it’s like, oh wait, they didn’t kick out of this one? [laughs] Then the explosion of emotion hits after it sets in.”
