WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley took to Twitter on Thursday night and reacted to Roman Reigns’ recent comments about CM Punk not being over in WWE, which obviously came across as an extremely corporate response and appeared to be set up in advance to try and downplay Punk’s pending AEW debut.

As noted earlier here on eWn, Reigns downplayed Punk’s success in WWE during an interview with Ariel Helwani on Thursday. The timing of WWE setting up the interview with a major podcaster (Helwani) is interesting to say the least, with CM Punk all but confirmed to appear on AEW Rampage on Friday night. Foley noted that CM Punk was “damn good, and damn over.”

For those who missed it, Reigns was talking about part-timers returning to WWE and claimed CM Punk “was not as good or as over as a John Cena, wasn’t as good or as over or moved the needle like The Rock.”

Foley tweeted,

“CM PUNK WAS DAMN GOOD, AND DAMN OVER.

With one interview he changed the course of the wrestling business. He had great matches with a wide variety of opponents on a nightly basis.

When/if he returns to wrestling, he will once again be damn good and damn over. @CMPunk”
